What is my booking appointment? Your booking appointment is your first official antenatal appointment. It provides your midwife with valuable background information about you. This appointment books you in for maternity care provided by your local health trust or hospital. If you decide later in pregnancy that you want to give birth at a different hospital or birth centre , or at home , it’s your right to do so. However, you may have another booking appointment as a result. This is your chance to ask questions, too. It may help to jot down in advance anything you want to know. You’ll have a lot to take in at this first visit. When will I have my booking appointment?

Maximum temperatures expected across Europe on Saturday Some rural parts of the Highlands in Scotland may even get a frost. It will warm slightly as the wind reverts to a milder westerly flow on Bank Holiday Monday, but people in many places may not notice much of a difference.

Early pregnancy care involves doctors, nurses, ultrasonographers, midwives and support staff. What is an Early Pregnancy Unit? An Early Pregnancy Unit is a specialist unit that provides care for women with problems in early pregnancy. This often centres around the provision of an ultrasound scan to confirm the location and viability of a pregnancy.
Units can also provide treatment for women diagnosed with complications such as a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. They are staffed by specialist nurses, midwives, sonographers, doctors and other health professionals. Why would I be seen in an Early Pregnancy Unit? Some women are referred for specialist care if a problem is suspected after an early pregnancy ultrasound scan in another setting, such as the community.

Thomas Cadw ; Lynch ; he history of the kingdom of Gwynedd from the 5th to 11th centuries reflects its struggles against its neighbors within Wales, notably with Deheubarth to the south and Powys to the south-east, and against increasingly powerful Saxon kingdoms of Mercia and Northumbria, which threatened the area east of the river Clwyd. Gwynedd, with its capital at Aberffraw, was naturally strong, its rich Anglesey farmlands protected by the barrier of Snowdonia.
At several periods it was Wales’ major power, its princes dominating the whole country; but such hegemonies were short-lived, for Celtic society did not recognize primogeniture, and the reluctance of princes to accept any hierarchy among themselves prevented effective consolidation of previous gains.

In pilot studies on women, the system picked up about 80 per cent of tumours — a success rate close to existing techniques. Two scans of the same woman with a small tumor in her breast: The scan on the left is a traditional x-ray scan where the tumor is not visible, the scan on the right is using new technology where the tumor appears in blue Dr Mike Shere, breast specialist at Southmead Hospital, said: It is quick, safe, comfortable and cheap, and is already producing good images with high sensitivity.
This technology uses radio waves which are almost exactly the same as mobile phone frequency — and less energy. It is completely safe, unlike mammography, where there is an increasing cancer risk when women have more X-rays. In four out of five cases, the tumour was identified and clinicians expect the rate to increase to 90 per cent. The new system has none of the drawbacks of mammogram scans, where there is an increasing cancer risk due to the use of X-rays Dr Shere said:

Follow the road down to the beach car park. Scanning from the shore in good conditions and some patience you should pick out the two male Surf Scoters and the odd Velvet among the more numerous Common Scoters offshore. The gull is usually just to the east of the Car Park, bathing by the outflow, or a little further east feeding on a dead Porpoise. A pair of Dippers are often on this river at Llandulas about 50m back up the road.
Llanfairfechan is another good spot for Dipper. Park in the beach Car Park by Asda and walk east to the first access ramp.
